Getting a skin cancer screening

Hey gorgeous Suvara clients! Just because you make sure to tan safely with us (you're so wise...not only does our formula look fantastic, it also is incredibly healthy for your skin!), doesn't mean you get to skip out on skin cancer screenings!

 It's really important to get checked out. 1 in 5 people get skin cancer, that's an extremely high rate for something that can kill you! And we're not just talking about stats around the world...skin cancer doesn't only strike in sunny hot places like Hawaii and Australia. No... unfortunately skin cancer affects us all, throughout the Northeast and Midwestern states. And don't be fooled: an overcast day does not equal a safe day. UVA and UVB rays are always there...that's right, always.
So, are you nervous about getting your skin checked out? Here's a helpful video from the Academy of Dermatology, so you can know what to expect  when you get there!

Prepping for your Suvara Tan

Eek! Your Suvara tan is this weekend and you forgot to prep your skin! What should you do?
Have no fear, future glowing goddess, we have mapped out the steps in a quick and easy guide that will have your tan lasting as long as possible. 

• Get your waxing and/or shaving done at least 24 hours prior to your appointment to reduce sensitivity and increase the evenness of your tan. Even though our experts will make you look gorgeous and natural, every little bit helps!
• For longest lasting results, exfoliate your skin with a non-oil based exfoliant the night before your appointment for smooth skin and even tanning results. Pay extra attention to dryer areas such as knees, elbows, feet and hands and use a soft-grade sponge or loofah.
• If you’re going to get a manicure and/or pedicure, its best to do it before your appointment. And if you’re going after your tanning session, wait until after your first shower, you don't want to risk streaking your tan.
• DO NOT Moisturize or apply any perfume within two hours of your appointment. It may interfere with the result.
• Wear dark loose fitting clothes, the tanning solution washes out of most clothing, but the cosmetic bronzer may temporary discolor lighter colored clothes. Wool, nylon and silk are not recommended, stick with your comfy weekend clothes and you'll be all set!
• If you feel comfortable. leave your bra in the dressing room, especially if you're wearing a strapless dress to an event.

What's up with CoQ10?

CoQ10, one of the main ingredients in Suvara's amazing air-brush tanning formula, is little less well known than our other ingredients, like organic aloe vera and antioxidants.
Interestingly enough, Coq10 is actually naturally occurring in our bodies.It's a vitamin like substance, and it lives predominantly in our mitochondria, a part of the cell. CoQ10 is part of the very important energy producing process, and starts to break down after you turn 30. By break-down, it means that the cell starts to lose efficiency (energy production) and it's ability to protect against free radicals, which leads to loss of antioxidant power. Beind the scenes with Maria's SELF cover

 NBC's Nightly News correspondent, Maria Menounos graced the cover of SELF magazine this month, and boy did she look gorgeous! Suvara's tanning guru to the stars, Anna Stankiewicz, gave Maria a perfect color, but we would be lying if we said we were surprised...Anna is the best in the world at giving the most accurate, naturally beautiful glow.
